About the Wedding Ring and Wedding Band!

Romantics claim that the ring finger has an artery that leads straight to the heart.

The wedding ring or wedding band is one of the most traditional pieces of jewelry worn in the world today.

In the United States, United Kingdom and Brazil this ring is worn on the ring finger of the left hand. In most other countries the wedding band is worn on the ring finger of the right hand.

Looking at the history of wedding rings, the tradition of giving the bride a gold ring dates back to 860 AD when it was believed that giving a gold ring showed financial sacrifice to gain the bride's hand in marriage.

Men did not start wearing a wedding band until the early 1900s.

In recent years the ring has gone through changes. Though the gold band is the most popular, many couples choose other types of wedding bands such as:

Two Tone Bands

A beautiful handcrafted ring can be a two tone ring that combines yellow and white gold, or yellow and rose gold.

Designer Bands

A designer ring can be a celebrity ring. Rings such as Harley Davidson wedding rings or "the" ring, Vera Wang wedding inspired ring tend to be popular.

A designer band usually has a more ornate look and they come in a variety of different finishes, such as brushed, matte, polished, and Florentine. For those who enjoy more decorative looks, designer bands may be the best choice.

Titanium Bands

Titanium is increasing in popularity because it is extremely light and durable. If you are looking for a black ring, titanium wedding band may fulfill your need. Wearing bands made from titanium is extra comfortable due to its weightless feel, so people who are not used to wearing jewelry may find this a good alternative to gold or platinum. One downside is that they cannot be re-sized.

Diamond Rings

Diamond wedding rings come in all different styles. Among them are antique style diamond ring, silver diamond wedding ring and yellow diamond wedding ring.

Also you can find pink diamond wedding rings and of course a sapphire and diamond wedding ring. These rings are for those who crave the best and most expensive jewelry. The ring and the band can be purchased separately or as a matching set with an engagement ring.

Platinum Bands

Among the most expensive precious is platinum. A ring made of platinum is usually highly polished to accentuate the material's best qualities.

If you like white gold, a platinum wedding band may be a better choice because unlike white gold, platinum doesn't need to be re-rhodiumed twice a year to maintain its brightness.

Adding a diamond to a platinum ring adds a nice touch but is expensive. An option is to use cubic zirconium as a less expensive alternate to the diamond. CZ platinum wedding rings make beautiful rings that are affordable.

Wedding Ring Sets

You can also choose to buy a wedding ring set for the bride. Choose from an antique wedding ring set, baguette diamond wedding ring set, cubic zirconia wedding ring set and many more.

Choosing the right wedding rings and sets can be difficult because of the variety of styles and materials that are available. Combine this with new technologies used in making a ring, a lot of time can be spent in taking your choice.

When trying to find a wedding band, the best advice is to go with what you think will be something you want to wear and look at for the rest of your lives.
