St.Valentine's week of 2007 and the DC area was hit by an ice storm. In fact two days before leaving for an upscale wedding in Tampa, I tried to get into my car and the door was frozen shut. I pulled on the handle and it came off in my hand. Fortunately, my mechanic was able to fit me into his schedule for a new handle so I could get into the car. I spent the next 16hrs on the road to photograph this wedding. Was it worth the aggravation? Photos from this event have been among the most admired work that I've done this year.


Photographing a wedding looks easy but believe me it can be hard work. And the work isn't over when the reception ends. There are hours of editing before the B&G ever see their photos. But it still is a great way to make a living. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself as I drag in from 12 hours on my feet at an event. Well it does beat working at the car wash.

As much as we would like to make the claim that it is, photography is not the most important thing on your wedding day. Your family, commitment and relationships with your spouse are the most important things on your wedding day.

At Don Haines Photography, we always keep this in mind. We always try to do our job in the most unobtrusive manner, yet still capture the photos that the couple will want for their storybook album. The wedding album is the first heirloom documenting the start of a new family.
